People often use “letterhead” and “letter pad” to mean the same thing, but printers and designers usually mean slightly different things. Knowing the difference helps you order or download exactly what you need.
Letterhead
A letterhead is the branded design itself — usually a header at the top of the page with your name, logo and contact details, and often a matching footer. It can be printed, or used digitally as the top and bottom of a document in Word, Google Docs or your billing software.
Letter pad
A letter pad is a stack of blank pages that already carry your letterhead, ready to write or print on. Clinics use them for prescriptions, shops for estimates and offices for official letters.
Header and footer images
Many reporting and billing systems — lab software is a common example — ask you to upload the header and footer as separate images. They then place your report or invoice between the two automatically.
Which do you need?
- Printing on a pad or pre-printed stationery → a full letter pad PDF
- Uploading to software that builds reports or invoices → separate header and footer PNGs
- Writing letters in Word or Google Docs → a header and footer image placed in the document’s header and footer area
With Sahayak Docs one design gives you all three: header PNG, footer PNG, and a letter pad PDF in the paper size you choose.
